30 Rock continues to be a favorite, garnering 22 nods--a record most ever noms for a comedy series in a single year. Mad Men dominated the drama category with 16 (and Jon Hamm also earned a nomination for his guest appearance on 30 Rock as Tina Fey’s too-handsome love interest, Dr. Drew. (Oh, Jon, is there anything you can’t do?)
As I was putting together this list of honored shows, I couldn’t help but notice how many of the nominated series and performers are quite similar to 2008… C’mon, Hollywood, would it have killed you to throw Battlestar a shout out in one of the top categories? I’ll pose these questions for discussion:
- What shows/performers keep getting unfairly passed over, and why don’t more people understand how awesome they are?
- What shows/performers seem, um… over-recognized?
- What shows/performers got exactly the accolades they deserve?
