Over the weekend, all was not well in Middle Earth. Guillermo del Toro pulled out as director of The Hobbit, citing production delays. Del Toro, with his eye for both fantasy (Pan's Labyrinth) and horror (Mimic), was an ideal choice, but now that he--and likewise Peter Jackson, who is producing this prequel to Lord of the Rings but is definitely NOT directing--are both out, the saga is left without a captain.

EW.com mused several potential replacements nominated by readers--Sam Raimi, Kathryn Bigelow, J.J. Abrams, and heck, even Quentin Tarantino, among them--but we're interested in hearing your thoughts. Who would be the best person to direct The Hobbit?--Ellen
