Award-winning actress Lynn Redgrave died of breast cancer Sunday at the age of 67. The London-born star of 1966's Georgy Girl was also known to a generation of fans as Ann Anderson on TV's House Calls.

Redgrave was born into an acting family which includes her older sister Vanessa (who won an Oscar for 1977's Julia). A trained actress, she took to the London stage scene early in her career before making the leap to film. She won a Golden Globe for her role as Georgina in Georgy Girl, an edgy-for-its-time movie that perfectly captured London in the mod '60s and also starred James Mason. In between a healthy career on Broadway, Redgrave had a varied TV and film career. She played Xaviera Hollander in the 1975 campy comedy The Happy Hooker, and was the commercial spokesperson for Weight Watchers. She even popped up on TV game shows throughout the '70s and '80s.

She received a Golden Globe and an Academy Award nomination for 1998's Gods and Monsters, playing the role of Hanna, housekeeper to Frankenstein director James Whale (Ian McKellen). Redgrave made a refreshing return to the big screen and she provided much-needed comic relief in this bittersweet film. She won an Independent Spirit Award for her performance in Gods and Monsters.

Redgrave played Mama Sky in The Jane Austen Book Club (2008) and recently appeared on TV's Ugly Betty. She was also the aunt of actress Natasha Richardson, who passed away in 2009. --Francine Ruley
