Driven by the vision of our founder, the Swarovski Foundation was established in 2013 and supports organizations across pillars of culture and creativity, human empowerment and environment to create positive social impact globally.
This holiday season the Swarovski Foundation is answering to an emergency appeal for UNFPA, the United Nations sexual and reproductive health organization, to urgently support life-saving assistance to mothers and their children in Yemen.
The situation in Yemen is currently considered the world’s worst humanitarian crisis. An estimated 24.1 million people – over 80 percent of the population – are in need of some form of assistance. Around the country, hundreds of health facilities have been shuttered or are only partially operational.
Women are taking the brunt of this catastrophe: A woman in Yemen dies in childbirth every two hours, on average.
UNFPA is empowering midwives to save lives, providing emergency clinical services, and distributing clean delivery kits containing simple items that can help a woman deliver safely if she cannot access a health facility.
